I’m Didactic In Morals- Ariwoola Temitayo

 By Babalola Yusuf Abiola

Rose Eromonsele is a student in one of the secondary schools in Edo state Nigeria whose childhood dream is to become a medical doctor, and she has been working very hard to   achieve that. To ensure actualization of this dream, she has been studying very seriously resulting to her always coming out in flying colours in class assignments and exams.

No student in the school has ever competed with Rose as the best student at the end of every session as prizes meant for the best student always go to her. She was indeed extraordinary brilliant. But unfortunately, the ambition of Rose becoming a medical doctor was truncated by a youth corps member serving in her school.

The corps member took advantage of Rose ignorance about sex and relationship to put her in a family way thereby killing the dream of the innocent young lady. This is one out of the stories of many innocent young Nigerian girls that have had their dreams dashed by unwanted pregnancy and life threatened diseases contracted through pre-marital sex.

However, in other to put an end to these unfulfilled dreams of many innocent Nigerian young girls as a result of unwanted pregnancy , Ariwoola Temitayo a graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, has initiated a forum called  issues in dating where matters concerning pre marital sex, how to abstain from sex and similar issues are extensively discussed.

In explaining what prompted her interest, she said, “the initiative to start a relationship clinic came to me when I was still a youth corps member serving in Edo state. Then I despised the way male corps members molest their female students who are ignorant about relationship.

“ I know reporting them to higher authority looks childish but the desperation to stop this immoral act made me to walk up to my principal, requesting to be allowed to organize a seminar to talk to students about issues in relationship, dating, sex, immorality and unwanted pregnancy.

After his national service, Temitayo has gone full time in helping people solve their marital problems, which he attributed to God and the passion to mend broken homes.

His words “social media and some other network sites have been of help to me as I was able to continue the work from where I stopped after my national service there, especially the face book where  I have dedicated a page called issues in dating for Nigerian youths problems to be attended to.”

On why he chose to attend to people’s problems instead of pursuing his journalism career, the journalist turned public speaker said “My mission is to serve humanity, and to let the youths know that marriage is not what one will just jump into, it is a process. One does not fall in love but go in love.

Also to let them understand the difference between love and lust, some people are in relation cage and not in relationship.

All these processes are supposed to be gradual from the foundation. From where you lay a building that grows to become marriage, it cannot be built in a day.

Temitayo, who is giving all that he has to make sure the project of mending broken homes is a success story, said his plan is to see Issues in Dating clinic flying higher like an Eagle and turning into a world known program, stressing he is working towards that by sourcing for sponsors to start a radio program in one of the federal government owned radio stations.
